The Animation Book:
critical, independent, contemporary, prescriptive, polemical. An authored and critical collection of essays on issues in contemporary animation practice.
Due for publication in 2009.

This is a book that Ruth Lingford and I will be writing which is intended to fuel debate in an area of film making that has been neglected. Not a theoretical book but a book of ideas that may encourage animators, critics, students and audiences to think about the practice of animation in a wider context.

Johannes Bottger, the last great alchemist, is imprisoned in the castle of Meissen, slowing going mad as he is forced to make porcelain by Augustus, the rapacious Prince of Saxony. The conflicts of his life are told through the alchemical process itself - that of integrating conflicting opposites into a monstrous union.
